Really Seeing Children – In-Person Community of Practice

All sessions are in-person: 7 sessions: Thursdays 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm September 14, October 12, November 9, December 14, January 11, February 8, March 14. (17.5 Hours) We are excited to invite you to join us as we explore Deb Curtis’ book, Really Seeing Children, a collection of teaching and learning stories to inspire an everyday practice of reflection, observation, and joyful presence with children. Together, we’ll engage in collaborative dialogue, discussions, and critical reflection on our current practice in relation to the BC Early Learning Framework. “What I’ve come to understand is that the most important work I do to see a child in positive ways is within me. I must continually work to transform my own view of children’s behaviours, see their points of view, and strive to uncover how what I am seeing reveals children’s deep desire, eagerness, and capacity for relationships. There is no more important or reviling work than this.” – Deb Curtis This Community of Practice is for anyone working with children, who is looking for new ways to inspire learning and create a community within early childhood education. Facilitated by: Child Care Options CCRR Staff, Daljit Dial & Ewa Boss Cost: $ 40.00 includes: – Light meal at each session. – Book Really Seeing Children by Deb Curtis and the BC Early Learning Framework. – 17.5 hours of professional development. Please note a certificate of attendance will be issued at the last class for full attendance (17.5 hours).
