Trying Differently: A Relationship Approach to Challenging Behaviours – In Person Workshop

Most parenting and professional approaches to challenging behaviours do not recognize brain development and the power of relationships. Instead, interventions often target presenting behaviours for change. Trying differently means expanding our range of options and moving from punishing behaviours to understanding them, and changing the environment and our expectations of the children. This workshop is designed to help professionals and parents shift from changing the child’s behaviour to reframing perceptions, changing the way they respond to the behaviour and developing appropriate and effective support strategies. We will also explore the key role of relationships in addressing challenging behaviour. Presenter: Malgosia Tomanik, M.Ed. Suitable for all early learning and child care professionals.
