Delta Parks, Recreation & Culture – Supports for Children with Special Needs

Services Offered

Delta programmers and volunteers can help many children who have special needs participate in Parks and Recreation activities.  Programs offered include:

  • Specialty Splash – Specialized swim lessons for children 4-12 years old needing special attention. Skills are broken down into smaller units for learning and each child learns at their own pace.
  • Specialty Skate – Skate lessons specialized for children with special needs, 4-12 years of age, who would prefer more support in a quieter setting.
  • Recreation by Request – parks and recreation programmer works with families and children one-on-one to find activities that suit the child. It might be an individual activity or a group program. By tapping into the knowledge and expertise of our staff, children with special needs get a program tailored to their needs.  For more information on parks and recreation programs offered for children (that you may wish to talk to a programmer about) see Delta Parks, Recreation & Culture Activities.
