Most parenting and professional approaches to challenging behaviours do not recognize brain development and the power of relationships. Instead, interventions often target presenting behaviours for change. Trying differently means expanding our range of options and moving from punishing behaviours to understanding them, and changing the environment and our expectations of the children. This workshop is designed to help professionals and parents shift from changing the child’s behaviour to reframing perceptions, changing the way they respond to the behaviour and developing appropriate and effective support strategies. We will also explore the key role of relationships in addressing challenging behaviour. Presenter: Malgosia Tomanik, M.Ed. Suitable for all early learning and child care professionals.

As early learning and care professionals, we know children learn through concrete experiences. We want to bring that knowledge to co-constructing our learning together through the power of story, empathy, and sharing of information. During this experiential workshop, you will explore yourself, your values, and your image of the child and educator. Our hope is that you will leave this workshop feeling seen and see yourself as the pedagogical leader you are and will continue to be. Refreshments and light lunch will be provided SUITABLE FOR ALL EARLY LEARNING AND CHILD CARE PROFESSIONALS Presenters: Daljit Kaur Dial, Ewa Boss and Tamara Jacobs
